Here Is Your Temple: Debut EP

Swedish outfit Here is your Temple’s debut EP is interesting. Opening track - and first single – So High is a metronomic, bass heavy march, underpinning the synths and Emily McWilliams slightly disembodied voice.

Fall Out Boy: Save RockAnd Roll

It’s important not to take the title too seriously. Fall Out Boy know as well as anyone that rock’n’roll is an amorphous and constantly evolving definition just like “pop music”.

“SO much feeling went into this record, it was the rope ladder thrown down into the ditch for us to climb up and dust ourselves off. I hope others can climb up it too; we’re excited to share the good vibes.”

My Tiger My Timing: The Gold Rush

This 5th single from My Tiger My Timing really has a lot to live up to. The catchy previous singles, particularly, the unforgettable “Written in Red” and “I Am the Sound” have really raised the bar and expectations for the upcoming band.

Five singles into the build up to their debut album, released July 2nd, and “The Gold Rush” does not disappoint, it might actually be the strongest single yet from the band. It’s laden with a bass heavy groove that lead singer Anna Vincent’s, “better than Lily Allan” vocals, softly move over the top of. Creating a very majestic and psychedelic sound that has not been created so well by a British band for a long time.

Lyrically Anna Vincent manages to equal the catchy groove of this song. The lyrics are deep and beautiful; the chorus is catchy and memorable. It is very hard not to dance around and sing to this song with it being set to repeat on your iPod. A particular highlight is the vocal harmonies before the middle 8 which repeats the chant “You do it false, you get it wrong”, this easily becomes stuck in the listeners head. All together musically, lyrically, vocally this song will be lodged in your head in no time.

My Tiger My Timing are standing proof that there is still a bit of life in the music world and they deserve to be topping the charts with the sounds that they are coming out with. They are sure to be a Festival must see this summer, keep an eye out for them.
