Here Is Your Temple: Debut EP

Swedish outfit Here is your Temple’s debut EP is interesting. Opening track - and first single – So High is a metronomic, bass heavy march, underpinning the synths and Emily McWilliams slightly disembodied voice.

Fall Out Boy: Save RockAnd Roll

It’s important not to take the title too seriously. Fall Out Boy know as well as anyone that rock’n’roll is an amorphous and constantly evolving definition just like “pop music”.

“SO much feeling went into this record, it was the rope ladder thrown down into the ditch for us to climb up and dust ourselves off. I hope others can climb up it too; we’re excited to share the good vibes.”

Katzenjammer: I Will Dance (When I Walk Away)

“I Will Dance (When I Walk Away)” is the first single from Katzenjammer’s album A Kiss Before You Go. This Propeller Records single sounds exactly like its words -- happy. Katzenjammer is a Norwegian quartet, and this song was written by the band and produced by Mike Hartung, who has also worked with Maelstrom, Jaga Jazzist and the almighty A-Ha. The tune was tracked in Oslo, but it sounds like something out of Nashville.

The track has a distinctive country feel to it. Who knew Norwegians liked country music? Yep, it has a country dance feel, with plenty of plunking piano and harmonica. The song also features some wonderful vocal harmonies toward the end. However, the lead vocal does get quiet and sad at one point, before, seemingly, the group remembers that it’s actually celebrating a breakup, rather than crying over one.

If the rest of A Kiss Before You Go is anything like “I Will Dance (When I Walk Away), the whole issue of breaking up might take on a brand new meaning. Don’t just shuffle out of a relationship. Skip away to a Texas two-step, instead!
